Privacy policy
Tellavio needs no account, collects no data about you and never uploads your recordings. Everything you create stays on your device until you choose to share it.
In short
- You do not create an account or provide any personal data.
- The app contains no ads, analytics or telemetry and does not send crash reports.
- Recordings, scripts and notes are stored only on your device.
- A file leaves your device only when you share it yourself or save it to a location you choose.
Who is responsible for this policy
The Tellavio app and the tellavio.com website are run by their author. For privacy questions, write to kontakt@tellavio.com.
Microphone
Tellavio asks for microphone access (the RECORD_AUDIO permission) only when you start recording for the first time. The microphone is used only to record your voice while recording is on. Recording continues with the screen off, and during that time Android shows a persistent notification with a Stop button.
Microphone audio is written to files in the app's private folder. It is not uploaded to any server, not analysed off the device, and not used for speech recognition or to build a voice model.
If you deny access, the other features (script, editing existing recordings, export) keep working.
Other permissions
- Notifications: the ongoing recording notification with a Stop button and background export progress.
- Foreground service: so that recording and export are not interrupted when the screen turns off.
- Bluetooth headphones: used for listening only and need no extra permission. You record with the device's built-in microphone or a wired USB-C microphone.
- The app does not ask for location, contacts, camera or access to all files on your phone. You pick files to import in the system file picker.
Data on your device
Projects, scripts, recorded takes, notes, imported sounds and finished exports are kept in the app's private storage. Imported files are copied there, so a project keeps working even if you delete the original.
The app does not use Android automatic backup, so your recordings are not copied to Google's cloud backup. Uninstalling the app deletes all of its data. To keep it, export a project package first.
Sharing and project packages
Sharing always starts with you, through the system share sheet or by saving to a location you choose (for example a cloud provider's folder). From then on, the file is subject to the rules of the app or service you picked.
A .storyflow project package is a plain, unencrypted ZIP archive. It may also contain failed takes and private notes, so the app shows what the package will include before you share it. A finished audio file (M4A, WAV) contains no notes, and you set the author and title in its metadata yourself.
Future cloud features
Later versions may add optional extras, such as automatic backup to a provider you choose. They will be off by default, will require your explicit consent and will never be required for recording or editing. Before such a feature ships, we will update this policy to describe what data is sent and where.
The tellavio.com website
The website uses no cookies, analytics or third-party scripts and has no forms. The server (OVHcloud) keeps standard technical logs (IP address, time, requested page, browser details) solely to keep the service secure and running. Logs are kept for a limited time and are not combined with any other data.
Children
The app does not collect personal data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we do not store your recordings or app data, you keep full control of them on your device. For website logs, you can exercise your GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection) by writing to kontakt@tellavio.com. You may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
The current version is always available at tellavio.com/privacy, and the date at the top shows when it took effect. We will also mention significant changes in the app's update notes.
